Bus Stop

[Written by William Inge, Directed by Dana Anderson]
Playing: January 18 — February 9, 2008

Bus StopBus Stop: The midnight bus to Topeka brings down-home drama to Grace’s Diner, where the passengers take refuge from a snowstorm. At the center of it all are Bo, a rambunctious young cowboy, and Cherie, the sweet little chanteuse he’s determined to marry. As it turns out Cherie has dreams of her own that don’t include him. As the long night passes, the locals and their guests get to know each other and themselves a little better.

There’s a humanity (in the characters) that allows for an almost immediate familiarity with an audience, Larry Kubert, Reviewer, Star Journal.

Dana Anderson, who lives in Lafayette, has acted and directed throughout the Bay Area and beyond for the last 20 years and is excited to direct this beautiful ensemble piece for Role Players.

The cast includes Ginny Wehrmeister as nightclub singer Cherie, (the role played by Marilyn Monroe in the 1956 movie), and Christopher Ratti as Bo, the brash cowboy who has kidnapped, and wants to marry, her. Bonnie DeChant is Grace, owner of the diner. Chris Chapman as Dr. Lyman, a former college professor, speaks romance through the words of poets to the young waitress Elma, played by Megan Wilson. Tim Biglow is the local sheriff, Will, and Dean Creighton is the bus driver, Carl.
