Welcome from the president
Welcome to Role Players Ensemble’s 27th season in which we are offering four classic American theatre masterworks: “The Hairy Ape”, “Lost in Yonkers”, “The Lion in Winter”, and “The Foreigner”. The season represents the very finest of American theatre with plays that, in combination, have received recognition as recipients of the Nobel Prize in Literature, Tony awards, the Pulitzer Prize, and the Obie and Outer Circle Critics Award for best play.
We are especially excited to be working in association with the Eugene O’Neill Foundation, Tao House to bring O’Neill’s “The Hairy Ape” to our subscribers. This is a limited performance schedule of only ten performances, one of which is already sold out, so you will want to be sure to return your subscription forms early in order to guarantee your seat for what is already one of the most anticipated events of the entire East Bay theatrical season.
“The Hairy Ape”, is being directed by Eric Hayes. Eric, as you will see below, is also joining us as Artistic Director. We are really excited about having Eric lead our artistic efforts for the season. He is a busy and highly respected director and member of the Bay Area theatrical community, a Danville native, and the right person to lead Role Players Ensemble into a new era of continued excellence.
Next, sit back, get comfortable, and “let us entertain” you with Neil Simon, James Goldman, and Larry Shue at the absolute top of their comedic and dramatic form.
So, “curtain up, light the lights”, and see you at the Village Theatre.

Gary DeAtley, President,
Role Players Board of Directors
